Please note that we do not need any typists.
Do you need to get your material typed up, but can’t face doing the job yourself? We can provide a clean typed version of your work at very competitive rates.
Our service offers help for writers who have an old or handwritten manuscript, or audio tapes, which need re-typing before the writer can proceed with submission or publication.
Our expert typist will work from a handwritten version, a typescript or audio tapes. As part of the package we email the work back to you and can also provide you with a disk and hard copy of your manuscript for a small extra charge once the job is done.
What you’ll end up with is your work in pristine form, ready to rework, submit to agents or publishers, or to publish yourself. You will be amazed to see how much better your work will look once it has been clean-typed. It’s certain to improve its chances of publication.
Because of the difficulty of assessing how long the work will take, you will need to send your manuscript or tapes before we can quote for the job. Email us to get instructions for where to send your work. When you send it, please enclose return postage, preferably in the form of a large, stamped and self-addressed jiffy bag, so that we can make sure your material is safely returned to you.
Once we have looked at it, we will email your quote to you and you can then decide whether or not you want to go ahead. If you don't want to use our typing service, your material will be sent back to you.
If you do go ahead, your typing will be sent to you as an email attachment. If you want a CD or printed copy we will need to make a small extra charge for copying it or printing it out and sending it to you.
This service is really intended for full-length manuscripts, so we regret that we will not be able to deal with material that is less than 12,500 words in length.
Our typing service does not usually include any editorial input, which we recommend you should think of as a separate job requiring editorial expertise. We can however quote for correcting spelling and punctuation during the re-typing, which will be more time-consuming and therefore more expensive. Please make it clear what you require.
What it costs
The cost really depends on the state of your manuscript. If it is clean and legible, we would charge no more than £3.50 per thousand words. If it is an extremely messy handwritten document or a hard-to-hear tape, our typist will have to slow right down to decipher the words, and we will then have to charge more, perhaps as much as £10 per thousand words. You should note that tapes can be particularly time-consuming, so the quote will reflect the time required to do the job. Most typing jobs will fall somewhere in the middle, but we will cost yours in relation to its complexity.
All Manuscript Typing fees are payable in advance, once the quote has been provided. We will give you a completion date at the same time.
