The Ginkgo Prize for Ecopoetry, formerly known as the Resurgence Prize, is a major international award for poems embracing ecological themes.

The first prize is £5,000, second prize is £2,000 and third prize is £1,000. All three winners plus two runners-up will attend a ten-day residency at Cill Rialaig Arts Centre, Ireland. The deadline is midnight, August 15th 2018.

Open to all.

The winners will be announced at a celebratory reading at Poetry in Aldeburgh Festival, 2nd - 4th November.
During the submission window, the Poetry School will be running ecopoetry workshops around the country, and publishing a series of articles on the nature of ecopoetry by leading thinkers and poets, including Vahni Capildeo, Dom Bury, Meryl Pugh, Karen McCarthy Woolf and Miriam Darlington.

The Ginkgo Prize is generously funded by the Edward Goldsmith Foundation, and facilitated by the Poetry School.

Mimi Khalvati has published eight collections of poetry with Carcanet Press, including The Weather Wheel, and The Meanest Flower, which was a Poetry Book SocietySpecialist book club founded by T S Eliot in 1953, which aims to offer the best new poetry published in the UK and Ireland. Members buy at 25% discount. The PBS has a handsome new website at  www.poetrybooks.co.uk Recommendation and Financial Times Book of the Year, and was shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize. Child: New and Selected Poems 1991-2011 was a Poetry Book Society Special Commendation. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of LiteratureThis British site may seem rather formal (stated aim ‘to sustain and encourage all that is perceived as best whether traditional or experimental in English letters, and to strive for a Catholic appreciation of literature’), but has a lively series of lectures and discussions involving distinguished authors. Paul Kingsnorth is a novelist, poet and essayist. His first novel, The Wake, was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2014. He is a former deputy editor of The Ecologist magazine and co-founder of the Dark Mountain Project, an international network of writers and artists questioning the stories our culture tells itself. His poetry awards include the Wenlock Prize and the BBC Wildlife Poet of the Year award. His new collection, Songs from the Blue River, was published this year by Salmon Poetry.
