Author advances are holding up amid cost pressures facing the industry with sums remaining competitive and the market for authors "buoyant", agents and publisher say.
Across publishing, supply chain issues and rising prices, such as fuel and paper costs, have been causing concern, with some arguing the r.r.p. of books may have to rise. However, industry figures contacted by The Bookseller said any concern over costs has had little impact on book deals so far, although there are a few signs of caution creeping in.
