Shock horror announcement

That’s not putting too strongly the chorus of disapproval which greeted the surprise announcement from James Daunt of Waterstones that he had agreed an alliance with Amazon which would see Waterstones selling Kindles in their shops and providing wi-fi acess so that customers can browse the shop’s stock and then order ebooks on their Kindles.  Read more

Employers embarrassed by blogs

The story of Joe Gordon, fired by Waterstone’s in Edinburgh in January for writing about them in his blog the Woolamaloo Gazette, has had a happy ending. In it he referred to them as ‘Bastardstone’s’ and his superior as the ‘Evil Boss’. After an internal investigation, Waterstone’s have offered him his job back.  Read more
