The competitions are open to all writers across the UK and around the world regardless of whether or not you attend the Festival in June.

Closing date: 15 May 2017. All entries must be submitted online. Winners will be announced at the Festival and on our website on Saturday 17 June.

These are the ten competitions:

Poetry
Writing can be murder
Memoir
Writing for children - picture book
Children's Funny Fiction
Skylark Soaring Stories
Flash Fiction
First Three Pages of a Novel

Young Writers Competition

As well as raising an emerging writer's profile, most of our competitions offer written feedback from the judges to those entrants who request it for an additional fee. Prizes are designed to help the winning writers achieve their writing goals by providing consultations with literary agents and commissioning editors, along with book prizes and subscriptions. All first prize-winning work is also published in the Festival's anthology The Best of 2017.

For details of how to enter, competition prizes and terms and conditions, see our website.
