You may need to do this if you are unable to use all the features on the web pages you
visit.
The symptoms vary.
 | If you find a little place marker, such as a cross, where an image should
be, or some action expected, your browser might be struggling. |
 | If you see just some boring text in a box this might be something provided
by the web designer to tell you what you are missing. |
 | When you hover over a button and nothing happens. |
 | When you get an error message asking if you want to run the de-bugg-er (sic
- spelling to avoid censoring software), then you might be having trouble
with your Java. |
But all of these have innocent explanations. It might not be the browser but
an extra add-in that is required.
Be careful with pre-release or 'beta' versions of any browser. Don't be in
too much of a rush to install a brand-new version. Leave it to others to
discover the problems and wait until the obvious bugs have been ironed out. Dear
old Microsoft is apt to match its browser upgrades to its operating software
(although it denies this).
There are 2 solutions.
 | Put up with it - unless it is the sound or some graphic you want to
look at. |
 | Download the latest version of your 'favourite' browser. |
