Competitions & Prizes for writers

The links go to those sites which list prizes and in a few cases to the prize-giving organisation itself.

List of Lists!

It requires a lot of research for the providers to keep these lists up to date so please be sympathetic if some are out-of-date.

One word of warning - Most organisations require an entry fee. Many are modest charges to cover the administration but some look like marketing ploys. The reputable prizes which are likely to advance your writing career do not charge reading fees etc.

You can't apply for these - they have judges who make selections of long and short lists. However, you might find it interesting to see what has won and when.
