The web is subject to periodic attacks and fixes
are freely available on the net.
All the major suppliers of anti-virus software let you
download a fix. This enlightened view is based not only on commercial
reality, but on the hope that you can be persuaded to buy a full copy. They
also recognise the benefit of ‘herd immunity’.
The logic is simple: if no computer transmits the
virus (or it could be immunised very quickly), it cannot spread. By making
the fixes available they are protecting their wider community of customers.
