The Beowulf Poetry Prize
Deadline 31 July 2007 Entry fees: First poem: £10, all other entries: £8 each First Prize: £10,000 In addition to that the winner will have one full length poetry collection published by Poet's Letter Books. Twelve Second Prizes: Twelve poets will win one year as a Poet in Residence with a bursary of at least £500. In addition to that the winners will have their first chapbook published by Poet's Letter. Twelve Third Prizes: Twelve poets will receive Commendation Awards of £100 each. In addition to that winners will have their winning poems published both in the print and the online edition of Poet's Letter Magazine.Multiple entries are allowed. The theme for the poems to be entered for the 2006/07 Prize will be Poetry of Cities (anything and everything about cities: living, growing up, working, falling in love, buildings, architecture, engineering, arts, culture, food, suffering, agonies and joys). Poems must be written originally in English (ie they must not be a translation) and must be the poet's own original work. They must not have been published and must remain unpublished until the Prize winners are declared. Maximum length: 60 lines Other than the theme, poems can be in any style or format.
