Winchester Writers' conference

There's still time to book for some of the sessions at the Winchester Writers' Conference, formerly the Annual Writers' Conference at Winchester in the UK.

A day of mini-courses on Friday 23 June is followed by the full two-day conference over the weekend of 24th/25th June. There are also week-long workshops the following week.

Maureen Lipman will give the plenary address on the Saturday morning.

Screenwriters' Festival

The first International Screenwriters’ Festival is taking place at the Cheltenham Film Studios at Cheltenham, UK, between 27th and 30th June 2006.

The Festival is dedicated to the art, craft and business of writing for the screen and will provide a unique forum for debate and discussion about writing dramatic scripts for film, television and new media. It should be a hothouse of story-telling and script-writing, bringing together professional industry delegates, high profile guests and new talent from around the world.

The Festival is being supported by Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park), Bill Nicholson (Gladiator) and Jimmy McGovern (Cracker, The Street) and sponsored by C4, BAFTA, and the UK Film Council.
