CatherineAllen Synopsis A Soldier's Path
Synopsis The story starts with Adalith as a young adolescent who lives on a farm with his family but all that is about to change! Soldiers from the empire of Queen Demonette, come down from the sky to raid the world in search of an amulet. During of which, Adalith is caught up in their rampage and he loses his family. He, however, is taken away to a barren world that will bring him up as a soldier to fight the forces of the three Highers who are the enemies of the empire. As he progresses through the ranks of the empire, he loses his wife. This is the final push for him to feel pure hatred for the empire. His friend, Kenott, helps him keep his wits over the next few years until they become Elites, the best rank in the whole empire. But this is when his life starts properly. His first discovery is two men who lead a resistance against Demonette and he becomes their friends. His first betrayal is when he finds that his closest friend is meddling with a devious man who demonstrates he has the same powers as their Queen. This shakes their friendship and Adalith’s distrust for him begins to form. He moves on however and learns of new races and potent enemies. The Droge. They are a race of reptilian creatures ranging from lizards to reptilian men. This new race seems to be the great gap in many mysteries of the past but this isn’t yet his concern. He finds out the Highers’ plan, which is to create a child that will one day take over their reign. The place of the mother is to belong to Demonette as she seems to be the only thing close enough to the Highers. They only require her blood and they obtain it from a dagger, which was used to cut her face. This plan of a child troubles Adalith but he has no say on the plans of the powerful. The next test of his friendship with Kenott is extreme and as a result, their amity is severed. They choose their sides of which to fight for and this in turn makes Adalith a renegade of the empire. He receives help from the empire’s most powerful enemies, the three Highers. He feels safe under their watch until Kenott comes and poisons two of the Highers, making them fall unconscious. Adalith is outraged and shocked that the Highers would fall so easily and his hate for Kenott increases. But save his wife and his family, nothing could prepare himself for the loss of the resistance leader, Jarney. Hate fills him and flows through his veins. Before his death, Jarney gives Adalith pages out of a journal he has kept, pages concerning a race called the Pharfrus and he tells Adalith to seek them out, or at least any history they may have. As a consequence to Jarney’s death, a battle between Adalith and Kenott rages but there is no victor. Adalith feels it is better to flee and Kenott chases him. Adalith is not captured, instead he takes on the guise of a different soldier of the empire and lives a life in secret. Kenott is sent on a mission with the remaining resistance leader, Sren, their objective is to capture the last Higher. They are given the amulet found on Adalith’s home world. It is called the End amulet. It forms a doorway through space and because of Demonette’s tampering; it sends travellers straight to her empire. Something else happens though; Kenott uses a small device to entrap the last Higher into Sren’s body, making him function as a walking prison. Members of the Droge race attack his mind and his control over himself wavers. He decides it is best to go to an uninhabited world so that he cannot be attacked by anyone and he cannot attack others. It was time for him to think. |
