10 March 2003 WritersServices extends services as visitors top 17,000 each weekWritersServices, the website for writers, has achieved
rapid growth and is now attracting 17,000 visitors each week. The site, which
was set up by Chris Holifield and Charles Jones in spring 2000, now has over
1,000 pages and attracts writers from all over the world. To meet the demand caused by the rapid growth of world
English, an innovative manuscript
polishing service has been introduced to help non-native English speakers
get their manuscripts into shape for publication. Other new services cover
scriptwriting
and children’s writing.
The range of professional editorial services also includes reports,
editing, copy editing, rewriting and contract-vetting. The new WritersPrintshop
uses print on demand technology to provide an affordable design, print and
worldwide distribution service for self-publishers. The site also includes the
popular US and UK agency listings from The
Writer’s Handbook and a massive Writers’ Resources
section to help writers get their work published. WritersServices owes its success to the world wide web. ‘The Internet is a perfect way to reach writers worldwide’ says Chris Holifield. ‘Free information, news and advice are available on the site, which we update every week. The web allows us to work quickly and cost-effectively to provide a global service, using email to receive manuscripts from writers around the world. Eighty per cent of our visitors are from outside the UK, making the site truly international and meeting the widespread demand for help with writing in English.’
